Fiji political party leader wants Indian-origin Fijians to represent in 2022 general election

In accordance with a special grant from the Indian government, it recently handed over 5,500 bottles of permanent ink to the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) for use in the island nation's upcoming elections.

Savenaca Narube, ‘Unity Fiji’ political party leader from Fiji said he wants more Fijians of Indian origin to take part in the line-up for the 2022 general election as the South Pacific country celebrates its independence day on Monday.

In Fiji, elections are scheduled for this year, but there is no set date as of yet. According to data from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, approximately 3.20 lakh Indians are living in Fiji as of 2021. Indians make up about 38% of the country's total population.
