FIA Chicago marks the beginning of India’s 76th Independence Day

“I wish India and Indian Community a very Happy Independence Day and congratulate the Federation of India for choosing Devon Ave Chicago as the venue for this exceptionally beautiful parade,” said Mr. AmitKumar in a speech to the Indian Diaspora.

The Federation of Indian Associations, Chicago held a grand parade on August 6, 2022, to commemorate India's 75th Independence Day and to kick off a yearlong celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The spirited procession down Devon Avenue in Chicago was led by 86-year-old Mohan Kaka and Khushi Patel, Miss India Worldwide 2022.

Rakesh Malhotra, the president of the Federation of Indian Association, Mr. Amit Kumar, the consul general of India in Chicago, and Mr. Vinod Gautam, the Consul (Economic, Commercial and Head of Chancery), hoisted the Indian National Flag. Vardan Tiwari, a 9-year-old Illinois resident, then sang the Indian National Anthem.
