The results of the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2022, the largest citizen-led rural survey in India has found that while more number of children between the ages 3-16 are enrolled in schools, the learning levels in the school-going population has decreased compared to the previous years.

According to the survey conducted in 616 rural districts, enrollment in schools has improved from 97.2 percent in 2018 to 98.4 percent in 2022. It was mainly due to a significant increase in government school enrollment which rose from 65.6 percent in 2018 to 72.9 percent in 2022.
