Texas Super Kings registered a six-wicket victory over Seattle Orcas in the opening match of the 2026 Major League Cricket season at Grand Prairie Stadium, successfully chasing 221 with nine balls to spare on June 18.

Faf du Plessis led the chase with an unbeaten 113 off 52 deliveries, helping Texas reach 221/4 in 18.3 overs. The former South Africa captain brought up his fourth MLC century in 46 balls and became the oldest player to score a century in men's T20 cricket.

Seattle Orcas had earlier posted 220/2 after openers Tim Seifert and Shayan Jahangir put together a record 191-run partnership for the first wicket, the highest stand in Major League Cricket history.

Seifert top-scored with 104 off 66 balls, reaching his century in 48 deliveries, while Jahangir contributed 78 off 47 balls, including seven sixes. The partnership laid the foundation for one of the highest totals in the league's history.

Despite losing Saiteja Mukkamalla off the first ball of the chase, Texas recovered through a rapid second-wicket stand between du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw. Rossouw scored 49 off 21 balls, striking seven fours and two sixes.

Wiaan Mulder added 31 off 15 deliveries to support du Plessis as Texas completed the second-highest successful chase in MLC history.

For Seattle, Jasdeep Singh and Marcus Stoinis picked up one wicket each, but the bowling attack struggled to contain the aggressive Texas batting lineup on a batting-friendly surface.

Brief scores: Seattle Orcas 220/2 in 20 overs (Tim Seifert 104, Shayan Jahangir 78; Amshi de Silva 1/35) lost to Texas Super Kings 221/4 in 18.3 overs (Faf du Plessis 113 not out, Rilee Rossouw 49; Jasdeep Singh 1/31) by six wickets.
