Michigan Technological University appointed Indian-American academic administrator Srinath Beldona as dean of its College of Business.
Beldona joined the university earlier this month from East Texas A&M University's Dallas campus, where he served as chief academic officer and special assistant to the president.
In outlining his priorities, Beldona said he aims to strengthen collaboration between the College of Business and other academic disciplines while expanding partnerships with industry and alumni.

He said the college can serve as a bridge between technology, business and leadership, helping translate research and innovation into practical solutions and commercial opportunities.
“I see tremendous opportunities to build on the College's strengths while creating even stronger connections across the University,” Beldona said in a statement.
Beldona also highlighted plans to expand interdisciplinary teaching and research by building stronger ties with engineering, computing, health and natural resources programs. He pointed to the university's planned Center for Convergence and Innovation, which will house the Colleges of Business and Computing, as an opportunity to foster greater collaboration.
“With the College of Business and the College of Computing expected to share a new home in the University's planned Center for Convergence and Innovation in the coming years, I see even greater opportunities for collaboration in teaching, research and innovation,” he said.
The new dean said entrepreneurship and commercialization will remain key priorities, with the College of Business contributing expertise in finance, strategy, market analysis and innovation to help move research from laboratories to the marketplace.
His previous leadership roles include associate dean for academic affairs at the University of Dallas' Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business and dean of the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University. Before entering academia, he spent more than a decade as an industry consultant specializing in consumer behavior research, statistical analysis and product development.
Beldona holds an MBA from Savitribai Phule Pune University, and an MS and PhD from Temple University.
