U.S.-India Forum / UC San Diego inaugural U.S.-India Forum underway
University of California San Diego is hosting the inaugural U.S.-India Forum on April 21–22, convening leaders from government, academia, and industry to advance cooperation between the two countries.
The forum is being held in partnership with U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum, which said the initiative aims to serve as a platform for “dialogue, discovery and action” in one of the most strategic bilateral relationships globally.
The two-day event, themed “Bridging Innovation and Impact,” is focused on strengthening frameworks for joint research, innovation ecosystems, and cross-border investment.
According to organizers, the discussions are structured around four key areas: artificial intelligence and technology, economic growth and finance, health and medicine, and defense and geopolitics.
USISPF said it is supporting the inaugural forum as part of its broader efforts to expand U.S.-India engagement across policy and industry. The organization has positioned itself as a key platform for advancing bilateral trade, investment, and strategic cooperation through high-level convenings and sectoral dialogues.
USISPF chairman John T. Chambers and president and CEO Mukesh Aghi are among the participants, alongside representatives from the private sector, healthcare, academia, and government.
The forum will examine collaboration in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and emerging technologies, with an emphasis on aligning standards and driving investment.
Sessions on economic growth are expected to address trade flows, fintech innovation, and the role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening the economic corridor.
Health-focused discussions will explore the application of AI and prevention-led models in healthcare delivery, while defense and geopolitical sessions will examine Indo-Pacific dynamics, including technology transfer and defense innovation.
UC San Diego highlighted its role as a major research hub, noting its $1.7 billion research enterprise and location within a leading innovation ecosystem, positioning it as a natural convening ground for cross-border collaboration.
