Consul General of India in Los Angeles Dr. K.J. Srinivasa has stepped up outreach to American business, industry, and academic leaders across California and Nevada, highlighting opportunities for collaboration in sectors ranging from advanced manufacturing and critical minerals to higher education and workforce development.
At a panel discussion and fireside chat titled "India Is No Longer Optional," organised for Orange County business executives, Srinivasa outlined India's growing role in aerospace, agriculture, healthcare, defence, telecommunications, entertainment, education, logistics, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing.

He was joined by Marvin Sepe of CTC Global and Dr. Ravindra Verma of Mobility Infrastructure Group. The discussion focused on India's manufacturing growth, resilient supply chains, technology partnerships, and skilled workforce, followed by an interactive session with business leaders.
The event comes as India and the United States continue expanding cooperation in strategic industries. Recent initiatives include deeper collaboration in defence manufacturing, critical minerals, and technology supply chains, with U.S. emerging as one of the largest destination for Indian defence exports and both countries signing a Critical Minerals Framework earlier this year to strengthen supply-chain resilience.
The outreach extended beyond Southern California. On the sidelines of the Fastmarkets Global Lithium, Battery and Critical Materials Conference in Las Vegas, Srinivasa met executives from companies including Aquatech, Controlled Thermal Resources, Lake Resources, and Bridge Green Upcycle to discuss opportunities in critical minerals, battery manufacturing, recycling, and research partnerships, according to the Consulate.
The Consul General also met Dr. Barry Gribbons, president of Los Angeles Valley Community College, on June 24 to explore academic partnerships and collaboration with India's skill development initiatives, reflecting the Consulate's broader focus on education and workforce exchanges.

The engagements are part of the Los Angeles Consulate's expanding economic diplomacy since it opened in January 2026. At its inauguration, Srinivasa highlighted the complementarities between India's Make in India initiative and Southern California's strengths in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, clean energy, digital infrastructure, and innovation.
Alongside its economic outreach, the Consulate has continued community engagement through cultural diplomacy. On June 21, it organised the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations at Loyola Marymount University under the global theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," bringing together more than 30 yoga and wellness organisations from across Southern California.
