CGI Boston launches emergency and consular services initiative

CGI Boston launches emergency and consular services initiative / X/@IndiainBoston
The first Consul General of India in Boston, Raghuram S., has announced the commencement of miscellaneous consular services and emergency assistance at the consulate.
This initiative will provide services such as attestation of documents, issuance of life certificates or identity certificates, police clearance certificates, registration of births, marriages or deaths abroad, OCI/PIO-related support, notarial services, and urgent assistance in cases such as lost or stolen passports, medical emergencies, arrest or detention, and evacuation or crisis situations, expanding the consulate’s routine administrative work.
The announcement was made during a get-together organized by Indian diaspora leaders from across the New England states to welcome Raghuram; Deputy Consul General and Head of Chancery Shruthi Purushottam; and the team of the Consulate General of India, Boston.

The Consulate General of India in Boston was inaugurated in August 2025 to expand diplomatic presence in the U.S., as consular services for the region were previously handled by the Indian Consulate in New York.

Raghuram, an Indian Foreign Service officer, assumed charge as the first consul general of India in Boston in September 2025.
The Indian mission in Boston shared glimpses of the event organized by diaspora leaders, led by Mohan Nannapaneni, founder of TEAM Aid, a global nonprofit that assists people in crisis situations while traveling or living abroad, on X.

Prem Bhandari of Jaipur Foot USA and Jag Mohan, minister (community affairs) from the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., were the guests of honor.
Diaspora leaders from more than 60 organizations across New England, including Abhishek Singh, president of the Federation of Indian Associations New England, and Nilesh Agarwal, president of the India Association of Greater Boston, attended the event.
