Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly termed the rally to Indian missions by pro-Khalistan elements in Canada scheduled for July 8 as “unacceptable” and reiterated her country’s commitment to ensuring the safety of Indian diplomats serving in those missions. She also emphasized that actions of a few groups or citizens do not speak for Canada.
In a statement released on Twitter, the Minister said, “Canada takes its obligations under Vienna Conventions regarding the safety of diplomats very seriously. Canada remains in close contact with Indian officials in light of some of the promotional material circulating online regarding a protest planned for July 8th, which are unacceptable.”
