Americans4Hindus (A4H) endorsed congressional candidate Ethan Agrawal in California’s 17th Congressional District race on April 29.

A4H described Agrawal, who is challenging incumbent Ro Khanna, as “a new-generation leader focused on unity and inclusive growth,” citing economic opportunity, community empowerment, and bipartisan leadership.

The organization, along with Bay Area Jewish Coalition Action, Asian Pacific Young Leaders, and NorCal Forward Iranian Diaspora, is hosting a fundraiser for him on May 3 in Fremont.

The endorsement comes as Agrawal, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, has emerged as a high-profile Democratic challenger in a race shaped by tensions between sections of the tech industry and Khanna’s support for a proposed wealth tax.

Agrawal launched his congressional bid in March 2026 after previously exploring a run for California governor, positioning himself as a “Democrat who believes in capitalism” with a background in tech and finance.

His campaign has drawn backing from Silicon Valley investors and executives, reflecting broader dissatisfaction among sections of the tech community with Khanna’s policy positions.

The contest is expected to be one of the most closely watched primary races in Silicon Valley. Khanna, a five-term Democrat, entered the cycle with a significant financial advantage, reporting nearly $15.5 million in campaign funds at the end of 2025.

California’s primary is scheduled for June 2, under the state’s top-two system, with the leading candidates advancing to the general election in November.
