Alizha Khan's ‘Texas Jaanu’ explores relationships through indie filmmaking

The film screened at a South Asian film festival in Austin.

Texas Jaanu, Aliza Khan’s directorial debut, follows Zoya (Sejal Parekh), a newlywed from Bombay who dives headfirst into Austin, Texas’ indie filmmaking scene and subsequently forms cracks in her relationship with her conventional Asian-American husband, Aamir (Srinivas Chilukuri).

“The most memorable part of the film was actually the process and developing the kind of intimacy that you saw on screen between me and my co-star (Chilukuri),” actress Sejal Parekh, who plays Zoya, said of the film’s tested relationship. “That was a journey that was really special.”
