Rajesh Kalathur joins BorgWarner board
In his new role, Kalathur will provide strategic guidance, drawing on his expertise in finance, technology, operations and global business leadership.

Michigan-based automotive technology company BorgWarner, has appointed Indian-American executive Rajesh Kalathur to its board of directors.
The company announced the appointment on July 31, saying Kalathur's decades of experience in senior leadership roles will strengthen the board as BorgWarner continues to advance its business strategy.

“We are pleased to welcome Raj to BorgWarner’s Board of Directors. Raj’s extensive global leadership experience across finance, information technology, operations, and sales will be invaluable to our Board,” said Alexis P. Michas, non-executive chairman of the board.
Kalathur most recently served as president of John Deere Financial and chief information officer at Deere & Company, where he oversaw the company's financial services business and enterprise-wide information technology and cybersecurity functions. During his tenure, John Deere Financial managed more than $70 billion in assets.
Before assuming those responsibilities, Kalathur served as Deere & Company's chief financial officer for more than six years. He joined the company in 1996 and retired in 2026 after nearly three decades of service.
His career included leadership across multiple business functions, giving him experience in financial management, digital transformation, enterprise technology and operational strategy at a global manufacturing company.
Originally from India, Kalathur earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. He later completed a Master of Science in industrial engineering at the University of Alabama and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
