Embassy to ensure immediate release of 8 Indians detained in Qatar: MEA

Arindam Bagchi, MEA spokesperson, informed that the officials were provided access to the detained Indians through the consular system in order to check on their welfare.

The Indian embassy in Qatar is working on securing the immediate release and return of eight former Indian Navy personnel who are detained in Qatar, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, on Thursday.

Commenting on the issue in a media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “We are aware of the detention of eight Indian nationals who we understand were working for a private company in Qatar."
