Eight Indians in Qatari custody permitted to meet kin

The men have been detained since August 30, but the Indian Embassy in Doha became aware of the arrests only in mid-September last year.

Eight Indian officials currently in the custody of the Qatari government on charges that were undisclosed, were recently permitted to meet with their close relatives.

The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Arindam Bagchi said on January 5, that the matter of their release is being closely followed by the Indian government.
