Climate disaster, poverty facing 222 million children in India: NGO

Approximately, 351.9 million children in India are estimated to be affected by at least one extreme climate event every year. Many of them are more vulnerable as they are poor, and hence without resources to protect themselves from natural hazards

Climate disaster and poverty appear to pose a major threat to a whopping 222 million children in India, says a study conducted by child rights NGO 'Save the Children'.

Cambodia topped the list of Asian countries most likely to face these threats. 72 per cent of children in that country were affected, followed by Myanmar (64 percent) and Afghanistan (57 percent).
