China’s Ambassador to Bangladesh says his country does not have “strategic rivalry” with India

The diplomat's remarks were made on the same day MEA S. Jaishankar told the outgoing Chinese ambassador in New Delhi, Sun Weidong, that normal relations between India and China depend on the maintenance of peace and tranquillity in the border regions.

Li Jiming, China's top diplomat in Bangladesh, mentioned on Wednesday that his country has no “strategic rivalry" with India. Li also noted that India and China can collaborate closely to address any economic, geopolitical, or other concerns in the area and beyond.

“We never view India as a strategic rival or strategic competitor of China,” Ambassador Li said during an interaction with diplomatic correspondents based in Dhaka.
