Chicago's Indian community show enthusiasm for upcoming PBD convention in Indore

Over 20 community organisations participated in the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas promotional event organized by the Indian Consulate in Chicago and Indian American Business Council

Ahead of the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) in Indore, a promotional community event was held at the Marriott Northwest in Hoffman Estate, Illinois for the Indian Diaspora in Chicago.

The event, jointly organized by the Indian American Business Council [IABC] and the Consulate General of India in Chicago was attended by over 20 community organizations, who will be participating in the PBD convention in India from January 8-10, 2023.

Consul General of India, Somnath Ghosh in his address thanked IABC for organizing the event for the community. Lauding the enthusiastic response by the diaspora members, he interacted with them and urged them to participate in nation building by attending the upcoming convention.

The Mayor of Indore, Pushyamitra Bhargav addressed the gathering virtually and welcomed all the Indian Americans to attend the PBD event in his city. Promoting Indore he said the city is well known for its hospitality.

Kailash Vijayvargiya former Mayor of Indore and National General Secretary of BJP party also joined the mayor in extending a warm invitation to the Indian American community. Meanwhile, Anand Tiwari of Madhya Pradesh association presented the highlights of  Indore to the gathering and claimed that the city is on track to be the ‘Silicon Valley of Madhya Pradesh.’

Ajeet Singh, president of IABC reiterated the same in his welcome address and said, “It is our collective mission to ensure substantial representation of Indian Americans from Illinois at PBD.” He also announced that IABC will host the ‘Global India Conclave’ in July 2023 in Chicago, to showcase the outstanding achievements of Indian diaspora.

Several of Chicago community’s high profile leaders spoke at the event including former Pravasi Bhartiya Samman awardee Dr.Bharat Barai, Dr. Sreenivas Reddy, chairman of Illinois Medical Board, Amarbir Ghoman, CEO of Marriot Northwest, Federation of Indian Associations, chairman, Sunil Shah and Dr. Vemuri Murthy of Chicago Medical Society.

“2023 is a momentous year with Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, The Global India Conclave in Chicago, Global Peace Festival with Shree Shree Ravi Shankar and the G20 Summit in New Delhi,” Reddy remarked during the event.
