Michelin Star Chef, Vikas Khanna and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Doug Roland, recently hosted the premiere of their documentary film ‘Barefoot Empress: A Story of the Victory of the Human Spirit’, at the Asia Society headquarters in New York.
The film written and directed by Khanna, is based on the real life story of Karthyayani Amma, a temple cleaner who never had access to education as a girl, but finally gets a chance to join a first-grade class at the age of 96.
What a night for Barefoot Empress! Thank you to @katiecouric for moderating a wonderful Q&A, to @AsiaSociety for hosting an unforgettable evening, to the whole Barefoot Empress team, and to @TheVikasKhanna for leading the way 🙏
