Centre for Science and Environment and Down To Earth magazine releases report on India’s extreme weather

The extent of the loss and destruction has also been further described in the media reports.

India has recorded extreme weather events according to an analysis established by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) and Down To Earth magazine, which was made public at a launch event online.

Majority of the days between January 1 and September 30 of this year, India has recorded extreme weather occurrences in one or several of its regions more than 88 percent of the time. According to the report, 2,755 lives were lost, 1.8 million hectares of crop area were affected, over 400,000 houses were destroyed, and nearly 70,000 heads of livestock were killed.
