CA Governor names Sweena Pannu County Judge

California State Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed Indian-American attorney Sweena Pannu to serve as a Judge in the Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Pannu was named by the Governor in the appointment of 27 Superior Court Judges to different superior courts of the state. As a county judge, she fills the vacancy created by the retirement of the county’s Judge Thomas D. Zeff, according to a release.

As a legal professional, Pannu has served as a Deputy County Counsel in the Stanislaus County Counsel’s Office since 2020. She served as a Deputy Public Defender at the Stanislaus County Public Defender’s Office from 2006 to 2020 and was an Attorney at M.L.SARIN from 1996 to 2004.

The India-born attorney graduated from Punjab University and earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Aberdeen School of Law, Scotland, UK.
