King Charles III's first list of New Year Honors, which released on Dec. 30, 2022, knighted Alok Sharma, former UK minister for his role in COP26 and the fight against climate change.

The 55-year-old Agra native is among the 30 Indian-origin campaigners, economists, academics, doctors and philanthropists to be honoured on the "Overseas List," which is released annually by the British monarch for "incredible public service" both in the UK and abroad.
