In a letter addressed to Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chair of the Sikh Federation (UK),Boris Johnson replied to the letter sent to him in February from over 300 UK Gurdwaras and Sikh organisations. Since Johnson replied before the deadline set by the Sikhs,  a mass Sikh lobby that was planned for July 12, was called off.

The UK Sikhs in their letter expressed disappointment that the UK Government didn’t recognise the Gurpurb (Birthday) of Guru Nanak Dev on Nov.19 2021, which is an important day of celebrations for Sikhs around the world. Apologising for the same in his letter Johnson assured the community that it would not happen again.
