Bollywood music, sparklers featured in Kamala Harris' desi Diwali festivities
US vice president Kamala Harris hosted the first Diwali celebration with members of the Indian-American community on Friday at her official residence, the Naval Observatory.
Neera Tanden, Vivek Murthy, Rich Verma, and Ajay Bhutoria were among the prominent Indian Americans in attendance.
Videos of Kamala Harris lighting sparklers with her spouse while applauding and wishing each other "Happy Diwali" were extensively circulated on social media. Her home was brightly decorated with lights and diyas, and visitors were treated to a wide selection of traditional Indian cuisine.
