The house resolved to recognize the 100th anniversary of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha's spiritual head

On Oct. 25, 2022, Congressman Andrew Garbarino presented a resolution in the House of Representatives to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha's spiritual head.

The resolution said, Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the fifth successor and guru of Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), a worldwide Hindu organization whose mission is to foster peace among individuals, families, and members of various communities.

His unique blend of spirituality and leadership has expanded BAPS internationally, resulting in more than 1,100 mandir worldwide and 150 centres in North America, and led to the construction of great stone mandirs in Houston, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Robbinsville.

"These mandirs provide a warm and spiritual environment for thousands of families, as well as worship, fellowship, shared meals, education, and activities for kids and adults, forming a true home for the pious," said the resolution.

Pramukh Swami Maharaj's sole message to the world is "In the joy of others, lies our own," and he was an outstanding spirit who continually lived for others, Since Pramukh Swami Maharaj made his remarks from the depth of great experience and deep compassion, they were wise, meaningful, and consoling, Garbarino added in the resolution.

Maharaj was born on Dec. 7, 1921, in the Indian town of Chansad, Gujarat; he pursued a spiritual path from a young age, seeking purity, giving up material belongings, and showing remarkable humility, saintliness, and unselfish desire to assist everybody.
