The Asian American Coalition of Chicago (AACC) recently presented the 2023 Outstanding Community Service Award to Gladson Varghese, president of the American Association of Engineers of Indian Descent, at their annual gala on February 18.
"This is a huge honor for me," Varghese said on his social media, on receiving the award that recognised his leadership and committed devotion to the Indian community. "I am so humbled and honored to receive this Exemplary Community Service Award from a well known, 40 year old, Prestigious organization," he added.
Varghese serves as the head of the Chicago chapter of the World Organization of Persons of Indian Origin (GOPIO Chicago). He is a member of a number of charitable organizations and served on the executive board of various Indian societies.
He received his MBA in Operations Management and his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Purdue University School of Engineering. He currently serves as the president of US Techtronics and the divisional director of General Electric.
Governor J.B. Pritzker, former Governor Pat Quinn, U.S. Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Illinois, State Senators, Mayors, political leaders, business executives, entrepreneurs, diplomats from various Asian countries, and approximately 1,000 guests were among the special guests who attended the event.
