As student visas get delayed, Indian missions in Canada ask colleges to plan remote courses

Currently, over 230,000 Indian students are enrolled in higher educational institutions in Canada, paying approximately $4 billion in tuition.

In view of the delay faced by several Indian students waiting for Canadian visas, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa has issued an advisory announcing that some colleges have put in place backup arrangements for individuals missing the Fall Session beginning from next month.

The advisory mentioned that some universities will offer a remote option for students who are unable to travel to Canada due to the delay, while some other universities are providing options by allowing students to defer their admission to a later term or “consider exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis” .
