Apple wants to manufacture 25 % of its iPhones in India

Apple's decision to move its manufacturing elsewhere has been driven by China's COVID-related lockdowns and restrictions as well as escalating trade and geopolitical tensions between Beijing and Washington.

Apple continues to shift its manufacturing away from China, the Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal maintaining the company wants India to account for up to 25% of its production, up from the current range of between 5% to 7%.

Goyal said that India has a rule of law, clear government policies, and business models that make it a desirable location for foreign investors. He also positioned India as a competitive manufacturing destination.
