Antaris launches JANUS-1, World’s first cloud-built demonstration satellite

JANUS-1 is a 6U satellite that will perform internet of things (IoT) communications, advanced experimental laser communications, radio communications, and machine learning (ML) while in orbit.

Antaris, creator of the most advanced software platform for space announced on February 10, 2023, that the world’s first satellite created, planned and manufactured using its end-to-end cloud platform has successfully reached orbit.

JANUS-1 was launched by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) SSLV-D2 rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Center of India as part of a business partnership with New Space India Limited (NSIL). Five different global providers have contributed payloads to the satellite, which will be commissioned and start performing normally in the next few days.
