Anoushka Shankar seeks MEA help to get visas for UK musicians

The Indian High Commission in the UK has explained this move saying that in-person visa application rule will prevent illegal fee charging by travel agents. It added that visa services will be improved by streamlining processes and addressing any delays and shortfalls

Ahead of her show in India slated for December, Indian-origin sitar player Anoushka Shankar has sought the help of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to get visas for her accompanying British musicians. Her India tour is dedicated to her father on his 10th death anniversary.

Shankar, daughter of Indian sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, is set to perform six shows in India after a gap of three years.
