The American India Foundation (AIF) will host its 17th Annual New England Gala on April 29 at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel to raise funds for its humanitarian programs in India, which focus on improving the lives of underprivileged women, children and youth.

Organized under the theme ‘ Imagining new futures’, the gala will honour Reshma Kewalramani, CEO and president, of Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Samarth Kulkarni, CEO, of CRISPR Therapeutics both of whom are at the forefront of discovering cutting edge therapeutic technologies to ensure everyone has access to a healthy and quality life.‌‌‌‌

Under Kewalramani's leadership, Vertex has expanded its success in treating cystic fibrosis (CF), with medicines that hold the potential to treat patients as young as one-month old and as many as 90 percent of all patients diagnosed with CF, a press statement said.

Kulkarni is regarded as an expert in the biotech field. Before CRISPR, he was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he had a leading role in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Products practice.

AIF recently held its Bay Area fundraiser where it raised a record 2.2 million for India. Founded in 2001, the organization has impacted the lives of 12.9 million of India’s poor in 35 states and union territories.
